Speaking to the topic A Time When Volunteers Make A Difference, the following students were determined to be our school winners:

1st Place - Jillian Gilley
2nd Place - Emma Watras
3rd Place - Paige Murphy
Alternate - Seth Clark

Congratulations to these students and all participating students! This speech contest is an outstanding opportunity for our students to research a topic, and present the information and their opinions to an audience. Many adults are uncomfortable when they find themselves in a situation where they need to speak before a group. Guided experiences such as this will increase our students' research and presentation skills, as well as provide them with increased confidence. Last week the district speech contest was held at the Mount Desert Elementary School. Jillian Gilley gave a commanding oration and Emma Watras was cool, calm and collected as she presented her speech. Congratulations to Jillian and Emma who are outstanding representatives of our school!
