Wildcat Pride in Action

Last Saturday, with guidance and support from Friends of Acadia volunteers and Tremont residents Stephanie Clement and Mike Hays, Wildcat students, staff and up to two dozen community members cleaned up the school grounds and more than 6 miles of town roads.  Students were enthusiastic in their participation in this community event and were astounded at some of the "yucky stuff" that they cleaned up.

We are hopeful that their participation in this Earth Day - Friends of Acadia event will help guide them in their personal decisions related to issues of littering.  Several passersby gave groups well wishes for their work.  Mrs. Kelley received this email from a community member, "Thanks to you and your crew for doing a great job, much appreciated by the whole community!".

In addition to the clean-up, students participated in cross-grade groups transplanting tomato seedlings, creating origami out of recycled paper, completing web-based activities related to recycling and composting, cooperative games, and some kayaking.
