Our 5th graders had a very exciting and productive trip to the Farnsworth Museum of Art in Rockland, Maine last Thursday. Comments overheard included "awesome!", "I will never forget that those were the real paintings actually touched by the artist!", "when can we do it again?" and "now I really want to make a hook rug!". In addition to work by the Wyeth family of artists, Louise Nevelson and Robert Indiana, we saw an exhibit of hooked rugs. Both contemporary and the 19th century rugs focused on recycling everyday items for a new use. Our students were inquisitive, knowledgeable and very well behaved. Guards, docents and bystanders commented on what a wonderful group of students they were!
